This ecommerce website was a very interesting website to work on. While the business owner was very clear about how he wanted the website to look, there were complexities with the build.
To save time and costs we looked at importing the products from a feed from their supplier. This feed was not very complete and required a lot of changes to improve it. We then imported 2000 products with images, categories, tags, prices, SKU and more directly in to the website. Like with all product imports, the hard part is getting the feed right – having put the work in to that in the beginning it made the whole process go smoothly.
We always try and find ways to automate processes for customers to save them time and money. On this project we did this by automating the order fulfilment and stock feeds. Each day the orders are sent automatically for fulfilment and twice per day the stock feeds are updated directly from their supplier.
Lastly we integrated abandoned cart tracking to monitor abandoned sales. This allows them to check which products and being abandoned, by who, and when. As a result the business can make assumptions and adjust prices, content and processes to try and improve conversions. We paired this with Google analytics tracking and a Google Adwords campaign to instantly create a source of revenue and monitor where things weren’t working.
