This Parish council web design was developed for Cholmondeley and Chorley Parish Council. It was a complete redevelopment of the existing website in to WordPress. This was to update the look of the site and to make it easier for the administrator to update the website. The colours are based on the Cholmondeley blue and is then broken up by the red suit of arms. While the website is capable of showing featured images the council have opted not to use many. Because of this we had to focus on this Parish council web design being clean and looking good without the use of imagery.
The emphasis on this Parish council web design was to make sure that all information is easily found. We added sidebar widget menus to the right where they could list their meetings, as well as for general links to useful information. We produced a directory listing page for the councillors to make sure they were contactable. This section allows an image of the councillor as well as optional contact information and their role on the council.
One of the nifty features of the Parish council web design is the noticeboard. This was created with a custom post type to look just like a noticeboard. On this each notice has a coloured sticky label which rotate and enlarges when hovered over. On click it goes through to the individual notice where they can place a lot more information. It’s easy to manage and they can add new notices as easily as adding pages.
We integrated a Parish documents system so that they could easily list and categorise their minutes, agendas and PDFs. This was to ensure transparency to the public, but also to make it easier to add documents. This was a custom plugin for the site so that they could have it setup specific to their Parish council web design.
